Final Hurdles Meeting for LoS

For a 6 week local Game Jam (which was my first Game Jam I have ever attended) called Hurdles – for a local game dev group called RunJumpDev – I was to pick back up on a personal project I had been working on for quite a while (in this case “Legends of Saviors”) and expand on what I had been doing from before.

This was technically the fifth week of talking to the group, and (like the rest of these videos), I was to to let everyone know if I had achieved my prior goals or not (which I had), and personally I wanted to let everyone know a synopsis of the plan that I plan to follow, to be able to make my games an actual reality.  I know I had set my standards pretty high, and wanted to let people know that I wasn’t reaching for the stars, without a possibly solid plan, and sincere motivation!

I was so happy to be a part of this program, and hope to join in with other Game Jams in the near future.

The Original Kefal/Kaifal (Throwback)

The origins of “Legends of Saviors” lies within a Dragon Ball Z/Dragon Ball GT and Mortal Kombat amalgamated fan-fiction I had acted out with friends, wrote documents on, created a D&D campaign based on the lore, and crafted a short game made in RPGMaker.  I still have drawings from those days, and thought some people might be interested in what was going on almost two decades ago.

Originally, Kefal was the name given to the corrupted Water Buntaien Soul that Insignacious Kendell worked on, and would eventually be implanted into the body of Kaiel during his birth, by the RuMa of Par’N.  Kaiel would also, at times in the story, would be able to transform into this alter-ego – both by choice, and not – and use incredibly, powerful abilities against friends and foes, alike.  The second picture showed a concept on what Kaiel could possibly look like (as a man) if he was able to perfectly meld with his demonic side, and control his power; known as Kaifal.  As for the current version of Kefal, not much has changed with his overall lore (which I can’t get too much into, lest I give away vital information), and only small parts of his existence will be changed to suit new ideas, however the way he will look should be a bit different, specifically his color pallet.  One big difference as to Kefal’s abilities compared to then and now is that he used to be a brutal beast that could explode into a fit of energy-driven rage, obliterating everything within a certain radius around him.  As much as this was great, it was too much overkill, and didn’t fit a Water Buntaien’s theme.  Therefore, Kefal’s new ability will surround his usual brute strength, but also another form that water can take; a possibly colder and harder form, to be exact.

Saro Perspective | Primal Phase

The cosmic laws and entities of the ST’RCK-5 multi-macroverse are both similar and alien to our own.  There are planets and suns, with various types of life on some of them, but the ways these bodies work is not always exactly the same as ours.

What makes up a “universe” in this type of reality is known as a “Perspective” (of which the ST’RCK-5 has 5, hence the designation); which from an outside view would appear as a specifically-colored “bubble” of energy, while on the inside it is a fractal of what is on the outside – 5 solar bodies, with 5 planetary objects revolving around each, revolving around a crystalline solar body.  Within the Saro Perspective specifically, each “Sol-System” (basically solar systems, of which there are 5 within each Perspective) has a single planet that bears an Alpha Species, while the other planets either only support basic life forms, or can’t support life at all.  The sun within each Sol-System is based on a different theme, which affects the lifeforms, environments, and functions of each planet around each sun.  For example, the Alpha Species within the “Energy/Life Sun” Sol-System (known as the Tarakins, during this Phase) eventually becomes obsessed with preserving all forms of life, and dedicate their existence to finding ways to do so.  Another example is – and again, during this Primal Phase – which is the 1st (out of 3) Historic Phase after the Singularity Birth – the ability that the Alpha Species within the “Love/Fire Sun” Sol-System (known eventually as the Katuar) uses is fire-based, where they can control flames and lava, and even summon volcanoes from within the planet.

*As a side note, not all 5 Perspectives have the same amount of Alpha Species’, nor the same laws and overall themes as each other, either.

3rd Hurdles Meeting for LoS

For a 6 week local Game Jam (which was my first Game Jam I have ever attended) called Hurdles – for a local game dev group called RunJumpDev – I was to pick back up on a personal project I had been working on for quite a while (in this case “Legends of Saviors”) and expand on what I had been doing from before.

This was technically the fourth week of talking to the group, and (like the rest of these videos), I was to present something physical, deliver a nice pitch, talk about any problems that may have occurred, discuss what goals I had achieved (or didn’t achieve), and go into what goals I had in mind for the next week ahead.  This was near the end of the program, and I was almost done creating the conceptual versions of the main 5 playable planets of “The Buntaien Souls” title.

The Original Kaiel (Throwback)

The origins of “Legends of Saviors” lies within a Dragon Ball Z/Dragon Ball GT and Mortal Kombat amalgamated fan-fiction I had acted out with friends, wrote documents on, created a D&D campaign based on the lore, and crafted a short game made in RPGMaker.  I still have drawings from those days, and thought some people might be interested in what was going on almost two decades ago.

Originally, the player would take on the role of Yenen, soley, and would find Kaiel as a prepubescent pit-fighter in a small town outside of the Mirror Kingdom (now known at the Controller Cities area).  As Yenen, you would then have to convince Kaiel’s mother to allow you to take him away to see if he was indeed the next Buntaien, and would then require him to take on proper training.  Eventually, as the story of the game would progress over years, game time-wise, Kaiel would age alongside Luka, engendering a love between them.  One thing to note, before this version of Kaiel was conceived, he was supposed to be the literal child of Pan (Gohan’s daughter) someone else, which is why some of you maybe think he looks a bit like Gohan as a child, and was to go on an adventure with other characters that descended from Pan’s generation of characters.

If you’d like to see the most current version of Kaiel, check this post out!
